Dr. Takashi Yamamura, National Institute of Neuroscience, visited Kindai University and gave a seminar on recent advance in immunology studies in multiple sclerosis (MS). Dr. Katsuichi Miyamoto and Dr. Susumu Kusunoki also gave a talk on clinical aspect of MS and statistics of MS in Japan, respectively. Kindai English Village e-cube and FD program August 4, 2016

Fingolimod is a new oral drug for multiple sclerosis. Dr. Hunter is President of Advanced Neurosciences Institute, Novel Pharmaceutics Institute, NeuroNexus Center. Dr. Alana L. Gray Dissertation Party. October 22, 2015
Microbiology Gradate Student, Dr. Alana L. Gray has completed the requirements for the Ph.D. degree on October 21st by presenting her Dissertation Seminar, Monocarboxylate Transporter 1 and Isothiocyanatostilbenes: Novel Molecular Nd Pharmacological Regulators of c-Met" at 4PM in the 4th floor lecture room. To celebrate this accomplishment, a reception with cake & cokes was held on October 22nd at 2PM to 3PM in the Microbiology Conference Room at Louisiana State University. Dr. Heimo Mueller, Medical University Graz, Austria, visited Louisiana State University (LSU) to give his presentation on "Data integration and visual analytics in biobanking." Dr. Muller's talk is part of 2015 CMTV Bioinformatics Seminar Series, hosted by Dr. Urska Cvek and Dr. Marjan Trutschl, LSU-S. Dr. Mueller has extensive computational experience working with life science datasets. Tsunoda laboratory members, including Drs. Darin Okuda, M.D., UT Southwestern’s Multiple Sclerosis Program, visited Shreveport. He is known for his work in defining and investigating the radiologically isolated syndrome (RIS). RIS is when a subject has an MRI with brain anomalies suggestive of MS, identified incidentally, but lacks the typical symptoms of MS.

Dr. and Mrs. Takahisa and Chieri Masaki visited Tsunoda Laboratory on April 19, 2015. Dr. Masaki and I collaborated on the role of natural auto-antibody in kidney and brain pathology in an autoimmune model for multiple sclerosis induced with MOG, while both Dr. Masaki and Ikuo Tsunoda worked at the University of Utah as an Assistant Professor. Annual ASEANA festival in Shreveport is one of the best opportunities to see people and understand Asian cultures. From Louisiana State University Health, a lot of faculty and staff attended this festival. Dr. Ganta Vijay Chaitanya left for University of Virginia, Ocotber in 2013
Dr. Ganta Vijay Chaitanya compelted his postdoctoral fellowship training in Prof. J Steven Alexander's laboratory, LSUHSC. We have collaborated with Dr. Ganta Vijay Chaitanya in several projects. The work included a highly accessed manuscript by Dr. Chaitanya on the role of lymphatic protein in multiple sclerosis, published in Journal of Neuroinflammation. Dr. Chaitanya is currently working at Robert M. Berne Cardiovascular Research Center, University of Virginia.

Graduate Immunology course at LSU Health, September 11, 2013
At Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC), Shreveport, we have a Graduate Immunology Course for PhD students and clinical fellows (medical doctors who belong to Allergy and Immunology or Rheumatology). At the end of the course, cutting-edge Immunology Topics are presented by student roster. Dr. Kazumasa Saigoh, Kinki University visit, October 12, 2012
Dr. Kazumasa Saigoh visited Tsunoda Laboratory, Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center. Dr. Saigoh, MD, PhD, is a neurologist who works at the Department of Neurology, Kinki University Faculty of Medicine, Osakasayama, Osaka, Japan. Dr. Saigoh gave a talk in Neurology Grand Rounds, entitled, “Biomarker Candidates of Parkinson’s Disease.” Dr. Saigoh first gave an intensive review for the main genetic characteristics of Parkinson's Disease, and presented new trends of the diagnostic Biomarker of Parkinson's Disease. Dr. Saigoh's group established an ELISA system to measure a new potential biomarker for Parkinson's disease, oxidized DJ-1 (PARK7). Dr. Saigoh discussed the issue with Dr. Eduardo Gonzalez Toledo MD,PhD, Professor Radiology, Neurology and Anesthesiology, Director Neuroradiology Fellowship, LSU School of Medicine, Robert N. Schwendimann, MD, FAAN Professor of Clinical Neurology Interim Chairman of Department, Dr. Arun Kalra, Associate Professor of Clinical Neurology, and Dr. Traci L. Testerman,PhD, Assistant Professor, Department of Microbiology and Immunology. Dr. Saigoh and members of Tsunoda laboratory discussed our collaboration on the application of our bioinformatics methods, including principal component analysis (PCA) to discover biomarkers for multiple sclerosis (MS), Parkinson's disease and viral myocarditis.

8th Annual Virology Colloquium 2012 January 10-11
On January 10-11, 2012, LSU MS research team attended 8th Annual Virology Colloquium, Shreveport, Louisiana. Ikuo Tsunoda, MD, PhD, gave a talk entitled “Role of CD4+ Th cells in Theiler’s virus persistence and pathology.” He talked about their new project collaborating with Drs. Satoru Takahashi and Keigyo Yoh at the University of Tsukuba. The goal of the project is to clarify the role of T helper (Th) cell subsets in Theiler’s virus model for multiple sclerosis.

Ms. Maira Shahid, medical student of Dow University of Health Sciences (Dow Medical College), Karachi, Pakistan, visited LSU Health, Shreveport, Louisiana, USA. Maira has contributed to data analyses of our models for multiple sclerosis (MS), using computer software, such as Origin. We have also discussed MS in Pakistan.

Dr. Istvan Pirko, MD, Associate Professor, Department of Neurology, Mayo Clinic, gave two invited seminars at LSU Health Sciences Center, Shreveport. As a guest speaker for 2011 Summer Seminar Series of the Deparment of Microbilogy and Immunology, Dr. Priko gave a talk on recent neuroimaging discovery in multiple sclerosis, entitled "“MRI studies in viral induced murine models of multiple sclerosis” on August 30, 2011. As a special lecture for Immunology Graduate Students, Dr. Pirko discussed the role of CD8+ T cells in a viral model for multiple sclerosis, Theiler's virus infection (lecture title, "CD8 T cell-Discussion Role of CD8 T cells in a viral model for multiple sclerosis") on August 31, 2011.

Mr. Clay Walker himself has been diagnosed as multiple sclerosis, and has helped puclic education and fundraising with ”Band against MS”, whose list band was seen in the picture of Drs.
