当教室では様々な研究が教室内だけでなく、医学部の他の教室、近畿大学の他の学部との共同、あるいは多施設共同、産学連携の形で進められています。下記にてグループリーダー及び主な研究内容について紹介致します。
日下 俊次 (主任教授)
網膜剥離、糖尿病網膜症、黄斑円孔などの成人に対する網膜硝子体手術の新規術式、器具の開発を行っています。未熟児網膜症などの小児網膜硝子体疾患に対する手術に注力しており、日本でも屈指の手術件数です。海外からの患者の受入れも積極的に行っており、豊富な症例数に基づいた小児眼手術の臨床研究も行っています。
松本 長太 (教授)
視野と視覚生理に関し、測定機器や検査手法から開発するオリジナリティの高い基礎/臨床研究を行っています。ヘッドマウント型視野計imoや変視症定量化を世界で初めて実用化したM-CHARTSの開発、機能と構造の対応評価などです。厚労省の視覚障害認定基準の改定、警察庁の運転免許取得時の視野の基礎研究もサポートしています。
國吉 一樹 (准教授)
網膜色素変性や錐体ジストロフィ、レーベル先天盲などに代表される遺伝性網膜ジストロフィの臨床像とその遺伝子変異の関連について研究を行っています。これまでに376家系681人の患者とその家族に遺伝子解析を行い、複数の新規変異が発見されました。新規遺伝子も候補に挙がっておりますので、今後の基礎研究結果に注目されます。
江口 洋 (准教授)
主に角膜移植と眼感染症の研究を行っています。角膜内皮移植片を接着させる角膜内皮移植(DSAEK)、移植片をさらに薄くしたデスメ膜内皮移植(DMEK)も実施しています。眼感染症の起炎菌をゲノムレベルで解析し病態解明から治療へと臨床に繋がる研究を行なっています。また次世代シークエンス技術を用いた眼材料のマイクロバイオーム解析も実施しています。
福田 昌彦 (奈良病院 教授)
角膜感染症、人工角膜移植を中心とした臨床研究を行っています。角膜感染症に関してはreal time PCRを利用した迅速診断法の開発、角膜移植では歯根部利用人工角膜手術を行っており、この手術は日本では近畿大学でしかできないものです。
杉岡 孝二 (奈良病院 准教授)
眼科疾患における創傷治癒のメカニズム解明をテーマに基礎研究を行っています。角膜には潰瘍や混濁といった病態がありますが、角膜の主たる構成成分であるコラーゲンの代謝異常がその一因と考えられています。角膜実質細胞の機能にフォーカスをあて、コラーゲンの分解、合成、貪食能などについて研究を行っています。
